The area affected by this activity extends to the south of the southern Apennines and includes the mountainous part of the Pollino National Park and between the towns of Rotonda and Morano Calabro.
From October 1st to October 25th, prior to the 5.0 quake there were 314 events, consisting of; mag1= 268, mag2= 40, mag3= 6
In the 3 days after the 5.0 quake, 291 aftershocks, mag1= 233, mag2= 56, mag3= 1

In the month of September 2012 a series of 360 earthquakes occurred in the Pollino, of which 4 had a magnitude greater than or equal to 3.0. Of these the largest was on September 14 at 5:50 IST (03:50:11 UTC) at 3.7 ML

Since 2010 the area of ​​the Pollino has been characterized by periods of frequent seismic activity interspersed with periods of relative calm. In particular, there has been intense seismic activity in October 2010 (107 events), April 2011 (40 events), and in November and December 2011 (490 events). After this maximum activity, the seismicity of the area remained relatively modest, with a few earthquakes per day. At the end of May 2012 the activity resumed after the earthquake of Richter magnitude ML4.3 took place May 28, 2012 at 03:06:27 Italian (01:06:27 UTC).
